Volkswagen only took the covers off its New Midsize Coupe concept car at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show a week ago, but the production version of the stylish four-door coupe has already been spotted. Photos confirm that the production version will look almost identical to the concept, although the wheels appear to have been replaced with smaller units, the intakes made less aggressive and the headlights fitted with conventional halogen units instead of LEDs.

Additional photos can be seen on Chinese website Autohome (via World Car Fans). They include a shot of the interior, which shows an emergency stop button located on the center console. This suggests that the car in the photos is a prototype, albeit one built to almost production standards.

According to local media, the production version of the New Midsize Coupe has been developed exclusively for the Chinese market, as it is said to utilize the platform found in VW’s Sagitar (the locally manufactured Jetta) already in showrooms there. Its debut is expected to take place at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show in December.

If it proves popular, we may see the car offered outside of China once VW launches its next-generation, MQB-based Jetta around 2016.
