The Fiat 500 Abarth is a great car, but it’s limited in availability (for now anyway) and priced beyond the means of some. The Fiat 500 Sport handles like a go-kart, but simply doesn’t produce enough power from its normally aspirated 1.4-liter engine to consistently put a smile on our face.
That, apparently, leaves room for a car that slots in above the Fiat 500 Sport, but below the current U.S. version of the Abarth. Enter the rumored Fiat 500T, a detuned version of the 500 Abarth that’s rumored to come packing the same turbocharged 1.4-liter four cylinder, detuned to the Euro Abarth spec of 135 horsepower and priced accordingly.
The Fiat 500T hasn’t been confirmed, but if you watch Fiat’s latest U.S. ad for the 500, we suspect you may be looking at a 500T running through the streets of Brooklyn, New York at 0:49 into the video. It’s hard to tell for sure, since the video isn’t shot in high resolution and the car is moving too fast to capture a clean still image.
Whether or not the ad leaks the 500T, it’s still pretty humorous. We especially like “Fictionalization, do not attempt” disclaimer that appears across the video at 0:35 in. We’d be laughing harder, however, if it was tongue-in-cheek and not actually required to keep people from driving their Fiat 500s into the ocean.
